2025 Annual

Secular Coalition for America

LOBBY DAY

March 10th - 11th 2025 | Washington DC

talk to congress about issues that matter

The Secular Coalition for America is once again holding its Washington D.C. Lobby Day! Join us for a Capitol Hill reception on the evening of March 10th and then on March 11th to meet with your members of Congress and urge them to vote against a federal bill that would fund school vouchers for private and religious schools.

Becky from Colorado
"The SCA’s Lobby Day presents an opportunity to get “up close and personal” with the legislative process in a way that is educational and gratifying. As citizens and constituents we have the right and responsibility to convey our concerns to our lawmakers about issues that have serious consequences."
Luther from Connecticut
"Great return to Lobby Day after Covid. The only opportunity I have all year to meet staffers for my senators and representatives. All were open to supporting the bill. Looking forward to the next Lobby Day.”
Jim from Pennsylvania
“The Secular Coalition for America has a well-planned and executed program to guide us as we lobby Congress for secular values. We have a good crowd participating each year, and more people would help broaden the nonreligious community’s impact. This is a great opportunity to learn about lobbying and have a good time doing it.”

The Plan

We will begin with a reception in the Rayburn House Office Building from 5:30-7:30 pm on March 10, with a legislator or two dropping by. On the 11th we will fan out across Capitol Hill to meet with lawmakers and staff on legislation and to invite them to join the Congressional Freethought Caucus. The Secular Coalition for America will provide breakfast and lunch in in the Rayburn Building, which will serve as our headquarters for the day. We schedule the meetings for you, go over everything in advance in a Zoom call, and provide talking points.

Can I Even do this? I'm no lobbyist!

Who can do this? Anyone. No lobbying experience is required. No one expects you to be an expert on policy or the legislative process. You just need to explain how secular Americans expect equal rights and how the issue(s) we will discuss affect you. You will go to meetings in groups of 3-5, depending on how many people we have from each state, and we will try to have an experienced Lobby Day veteran in each group. We will also have several government affairs experts from our coalition members to attend some of the meetings.
